Marcus’ Pitt: Interview With Thomas Marr
With Marrcade right around the corner, I thought it would be appropriate to interview the man that this stellar Vintage Wrestling event was named after. I was able to get an appointment at the one place that you are able to find him as he prepares for a big match. This would be the gym. In fact, this could be the biggest match up of his whole career as he takes on the Vintage Heavyweight Champion The Stimulus Sam Shaw. The stakes are high because Shaw is willing to put up his title and Marr must put up his career. I have not remembered a match that was as important as this in recent memory.
As Thomas Marr was catching his breath after a very intense workout, I wandered over to the weight machine and began the interview.
Marcus Pitts: Thank you Thomas for granting me this interview.
Thomas Marr No Problem Little Guy.
MP: I know that you have wrestled in a few promotions other than Vintage and SCW. Would you kindly tell the readers some of the promotions you have wrestled with?
TM: NWA, AWA, World-1 Wrestling WWA, SGWA
MP: When you started to wrestle with SCW, you were part of a tag team with Jason Sensation called the Green Light District. It seems that you had a falling out so to speak. What happened to lead up to your split up?
TM: The truth is that the green light district was at best a farce. It was something that SCW owner Chris Carson came up with to entertain himself, while not bruising the egos of "others". We split up because Jason Sensation was a Mark for Himself, and a selfish piece of Garbage that thought he was better than me and everyone else in the world. When the time was right I broke free from the prison of mediocrity to begin a climb to the top.
MP: While you were North American Champion with the NWA, you had another rift between you and Lee Douglas. What caused this to happen and do you have any regrets?
TM: The NWA Issues are bigger than people really think. I was actually set to challenge NWA World Junior Heavyweight Champion Jason Rumble, but the NWA Board of Directors elected to give my title shot to a wrestler from New Japan Pro Wrestling. As a result of this I was given an opportunity to challenge for the NWA North American Title instead. I beat a Man who held the NWA North American Championship for 2 Years. I was the #1 Contender to the World Heavyweight championship. I made repeated challenges to then champion Jeff Jarrett. Lee Douglas and Chris Carson conspired together to make sure that I was booked in a handicapped match on an SCW event. After all you could not have the TOP GUY in the NWA carry around that trophy while being a part of Southern Championship Wrestling? Right!
MP: You became involved with probably one of the hottest feuds in SCW history with Frankie Capone. Would you tell me how this war came about and what your thoughts are on this classic war you two did engage in?
TM: Some people think that I speak too much on the contributions that Frankie Capone has made to my career. Truth be told; this should be considered a feud that was never meant to happen. The first match between the two of us was signed in order to teach me respect. We have wrestled each other in every type of match known to man. As Frankie Capone might tell you, we spilled the most blood in SCW History in our historic cage match in Auberndale Florida. It was the night Tommy Marr became legit. Without this feud nobody would even know who I was.
MP: It all came to a head in McClanahey when you entered the ring and challenged Capone to a title match outside of the boundaries of SCW. What happened because much of it was unclear?
TM: Carson did what he had to do. Frankie did what he had to do. I did what I had to do.
MP: Capone calls it a screw job. What do you call it?
TM: A SCREW JOB!!!!!!!!!!!
MP: If you were to describe Chris Carson, what would your description be?
TM: Chris Carson has given a lot to this business. I will never discredit that. He has given opportunities and spots to a lot of people.
MP: You went on to carry the SCW Heavyweight title. Some say that this was the beginning of the end of the promotion. Many people tend to say that you carried the company at this point. What are your thoughts about those days?
TM: Those days are over. SCW IS DEAD!!!
MP: You became aligned with Robin Donahue and Slik Sleezy at this time. How was your relationship with these two individuals and was there any signs of conflict between the three of you at this time?
TM: Slick Sleezy was not even heard of until him and his "friend" Robin Donahue became associated with me. I will not even give them the rub by dignifying this question with an answer.
MP: Everything culminated with an Iron Match with Slik Wagner Brown for your SCW Heavyweight Title and what would be the last true SCW show. What were your thoughts going into this match and how would you rank this match in your great career?
TM: The Iron Man match was the match nobody thought I could win. This was one of the most physically demanding matches of my career.
MP: Shortly after this match, rumors and speculation were being circulated about your health. Would you care to elaborate on what health problems you were having at this time?
TM: NO!!
MP: Don’t you think you are taking a very big chance of hurting yourself in the ring?
TM: Many people feel that I should walk away from this sport. If I cannot win I will do that. That is the bottom line.
MP: You introduced yourself at the very first Vintage Wrestling show and basically destroyed Jason Sensation one more time. You said that you were here to right the wrongs of wrestling. Would you care to elaborate on this?

MP: You introduced yourself at the very first Vintage Wrestling show and basically destroyed Jason Sensation one more time. You said that you were here to right the wrongs of wrestling. Would you care to elaborate on this?
TM: I will answer this on February 20th in the ring.
MP: Since then, you were involved in many “squash matches” and run ins. Many people thought you were being protected by the Vintage front Office. Would you care to answer these people that have been accusing you of this?
TM: Vintage was not protecting me. They were protecting their champion.
MP: You were picked to captain the SCW team at WrestleBrawl. It seemed that you turned your back on the team and Chris Carson. Why did you do this? You shocked everyone that was present that night.
TM: SCW is like the horse with the broken leg. It was time for me to put it out of its misery.
MP: You claim to have a benefactor that brought you back to wrestling. Billy Wood on a Florida Wrestling Radio Show claimed it was Chris Carson. You very much proved that it wasn’t. Who in the world is paying you all this money if it wasn’t Carson?
TM: YOU WILL FIND OUT ON FEB 20
MP: The show is named after you. You insisted on a match with Sam Shaw for the heavyweight title. You were granted that wish reluctantly by Sean Solo and Billy Wood and you have even sacrificed your tremendous career for this gold belt. Why are you going to these lengths to go after this title?
TM: People think I do not belong in wrestling anymore. Either they will be proved right or wrong.
MP: Robin Donahue claims in an earlier interview that he dropped you because of your health and you were of no use to him. Would you care to elaborate on this subject?
TM: Robin Donahue knows the truth. NUFF SAID!
MP: Nobody has been able to take the strap from Sam Shaw since the very beginning days of Vintage Wrestling. He has beaten many of very tough competitors and some even proclaim him as the number one wrestler in the state of Florida. What makes you think you can defeat him where others could not?
TM: Simple. I will do anything to win and I have nothing left to lose.
MP: Are you worried about outside interference from Robin Donahue and QT Marshall?
TM: LOL
MP: Any last thoughts that you want to relay to the Vintage fans?
TM: ITS DO OR DIE FEB 20!
MP: Any last thoughts that you would like to relay to Donahue, Marshall, and your opponent The Stimulus Sam Shaw?
TM: TICK TOCK SAM SHAW, TICK TOCK.
MP: I would like to thank you again for granting me this interview and taking time out of your busy schedule. I wish you God’s speed and health in this endeavor?
TM: My Pleasure Kid.

What will happen when these two men lock up? I felt the confidence and the enthusiasm as he was speaking to me. He understands that either this is the farewell chapter to the Thomas Marr book or will it be another long chapter of success. My feelings are mixed with realism that Marr is facing too many obstacles, but I have that feeling in my gut that if any man could overcome these particular obstacles it will be Thomas Marr.
February 20th at the Sanford Salvation Army Gymnasium. Vintage Wrestling proudly presents Marrcade. Two gladiators walk into the squared circle and only one man can walk out with the gold. This is a sure must event for everyone to see.
