Much expectation and anticipation was reserved for what many call an all star show. Vintage Wrestling presented WrestleBrawl before about 300 of it’s faithful and loyal fans. Nobody was disappointed and the verdict is in and this show may have put Vintage Wrestling into the upper echelon of wrestling promotions in the entire state of Florida.
When one would consider the talent pool that this company has at it’s disposal, Vintage is leaps and bounds more loaded than any other promotion in Florida. They have such veteran wrestlers in Thomas Marr, Frankie Capone, Bruce Santee, Aaron Epic, and Chasyn Rance just to name a few. Mix in the young and hungry Josh Raynes, Bobby Fonta, Simon Sez, and Eric Cooper into the fray, one would have to say that Vintage will undoubtedly be set for exciting action for sometime to come.
Another one of the reasons for the sudden success of Vintage Wrestling is the emergence of four young prospects. Sam Shaw is the Heavyweight Champion of Vintage and has not lost a match since he won the title in May. He has come out on top over some of the best talent in the state of Florida. Bruce Santee, Jesse Neal, The 7” 1’ giant Titan, and each time Shaw has managed to hold on to the title. Shaw has been managed by the ever present Robin Donahue and he can even claim that he hasn’t been on the losing end of a decision in over a year and a half.
TNA star Jesse Neal has been a very big contributor for Vintage Wrestling. Wrestling for a major company as TNA Wrestling has paid dividends for Vintage. Neil Faith has that special look and is unbelievably agile for such a tall man. Sinn Bohdi is one of the most unusual characters anywhere in the sport of wrestling. He has seen some time at the television promotions. These four young athletes will be watched by many of scout from WWE, TNA, and ROH.
The other interesting mix to the talent is the bringing in of past superstars from WWE and TNA. In the past few months, Vintage has brought in WWE Superstars Lanny Poffo, Jake the Snake Roberts, the beautiful and vivacious Sunny to name a few. They even have such luminaries as Scot Hall, Larry Zbysko, and Edge come into the arena to see what the clamor is all about.
The masterminds behind this cocktail for success are very new to the industry. Billy Wood and Sean Solo are a refreshing breath of enthusiasm and energy. They were originally brought into Southern Championship Wrestling toward the end of an eleven year run of success. Both Wood and Solo owe much of their success to SCW owner and founder Chris Carson.
These two young promoters have been friends and wrestling enthusiasts since high school and dreamed that they may be able to run a wrestling promotion in the future. They have said on many of occasions that this run of success was not imagined and expected in such a short time span. The amazing statistic about Vintage is that they have been around for less than a year. Their first inaugural show was in April of 2009. They have not even seen their first anniversary.
The future is looking very bright for this young and upcoming promotion. They are in the process of promoting Marrcade on February 20th and King of the State in March. One would have to say that Vintage Wrestling could possibly be around for some time to come. I would highly recommend attending a Vintage show at the Sanford Salvation Army Gymnasium. You will not be sorry.
