I guess the best word you can put to this situation is surreal. I have admired Afa and his organization for the short time he has been in Florida. I thought it was a “professional” organization ran by “professional” people that had the best intentions for the entertainment medium of professional wrestling. Unfortunately, I have been duped by certain individuals that just plain know better than to act in this inconceivable and childish attitude.
I have to agree with MSL, Chris Nelson, and my good friend Seth. These young men that put their bodies on the line to entertain us are being restricted from practicing their trade to the best of their ability. How are these individuals supposed to make a living? Just working for one promotion is so inconceivable and how are they going to compensate these guys for all the bookings that they are prevented from honoring? I know what I would say if I were put in this position and that would be emphatically NO!!
The past few months I had this feeling promotions were trying to work together for the good of the sport. Anyone who has read the BY THE MARKS when I have been serious know that this was one of my wishes to see happen. Of course you are to be competitive but I thought that the walls were finally coming down. Workers would be allowed to hone their trade and learn from ALL of the promoters of the state of Florida whether it be good or bad. I even have been a part of watching and listening to the panhandle of the state start to promote their companies to Central Florida. All it takes is one individual or promotion to ruin the positive influences at work.
Back in the 1990’s, I was so burned out with wrestling that I actually boycotted the sport for a couple of years. The politics was getting way out of hand and I was disgusted from the mainstream right on down to the indies. Congratulations WXW but I have just about had enough. Why should I spend my money that is harder and harder to get and spend it on a product that could care less for its fans. We pay for your existence by wanting to be entertained by your product. We have paid for your existence from the very beginning. This includes those early days when you were one of those up and comers. Have you all forgotten where you came from and how hard it was to make a buck?
WXW, I would seriously discuss the direction you want to go amongst yourselves. We all make mistakes and sometimes it takes men to admit them. I think this is a very big mistake and maybe you can make the appropriate calls and work this situation out for the good of wrestling. The fans do have a choice and my choice would be a promotion that will show me who I want to see and not necessarily who you think I should see. I am a fan of the independent circuit and this is written BY THE MARK.
